In the same year, the actress was selected to play the younger character of Mary Cooper (Sheldon Cooper's mother) on Young Sheldon, a spin-off of the CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory again portraying a younger version of her mother's. The character was assigned an audition to the actress, despite the fact that she is a relative to the character.
