Ani Difranco
Angela Maria Ani DiFranco - an Canadian as well as an American musician and singer. Her work has been featured on more than 20 studio albums. Her music is classified as folk-rock and alternative rock although it includes elements of punk, funk, hip music and jazz. Ani Difranco is acknowledged as a pioneer of music that is feminist. In the year 1990, she was among the first people to launch her own label independently. DiFranco's parents, Elizabeth (Ross), a previous student at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Dante Americo DiFranco met each the other when they were both attending. Her mother is from Montreal and her father is of Italian descent. Ani Difrasco wrote and recorded the song "32 Flavors". The track is part of her 1995 album Not a Pretty Girl, which was her sixth studio release. The song appears on the movie soundtrack of 1999's Canadian love story Better Than Chocolate. DiFranco apologised in 2013 when it was reported that she was planning to hold an event for three days at the Louisiana plantation for slaves.
